1. About the MFAA Excellence Awards

Do I have to be a member of the MFAA to enter?

Yes – you need to be a current MFAA member or an employee of a current MFAA member. Refer to the entry kit for each category for specific membership requirements via the categories tab on awards.mfaa.com.au

 Is there a cost to enter the awards? 

No – the MFAA Excellence Awards are free to enter for MFAA members only.

 What are the award categories?  

There are 24 award categories that cover brokers, businesses, lenders and support staff. The full list of the awards categories can be found within each of the individual category pages on awards.com.au

What period do the awards cover? 

The qualifying period is 1 January 2022 – 31 December 2022. All examples and evidence cited in any awards entries should be from this period.

When do submissions close?

Please refer to the Dates tab on awards.mfaa.com.au

 When are the Awards presented?

The MFAA Excellence Awards for each state will be presented in May/June. State winners are automatically listed as national finalists. The National Awards will be presented in July. Please refer to dates.


2. Entering an Awards Category

 How do I submit an entry? 

All entries are to be completed online through the awards submission portal – click on the Enter Now button. Submissions by email will not be accepted.

  What is the entry criteria?

Each award category has a unique set of entry criteria. Please refer to the Awards Category to view the entry kit for each award category. The entry kit includes the specific entry criteria for the category and the questions to be answered.

 Can I enter more than one award category? 

Yes, you are welcome to submit in more than one category. You cannot enter more than once in a category.

 I’m entering submissions on behalf of different people in my business. How do I submit them?

You need to create a separate account for each individual entrant. Do not enter all of them under one account. 

How long does an award submission take to complete?

An award submission can take between 90 minutes and half a day to complete.

Does my entry require a professional photo or company logo?

Yes. If you are a finalist the photos and logos submitted will be displayed on screen at the event.

  • Individual awards – a high resolution professional photo
  • Business awards – a high resolution company logo
  • National awards – a high resolution company logo or professional photo, depending on the category

Recommended format - either jpeg or png file type. Size approx. 2-3MB.

I've forgotten my password to the entry portal. What do I do? 

Email awards@mfaa.com.au and we will provide you with instructions to reset your password.

Can I ask for an extension for my awards submission? 

No. It is very important that submissions are submitted on time. Please refer to dates page for closing dates and times.

 Can I change my submission after I have submitted it?

No. Once submitted, no further changes can be made to your entry. 


3. About the Awards judging

 How are the submissions judged?  

Submissions are judged based on the entrant's ability to answer the entry questions effectively. These questions are designed to gauge excellence and professionalism – not just volume and revenue. Submissions are judged by a panel of experienced industry and non-industry experts.

All judges will have a personal online dashboard to judge their allocated awards online. Entrants are not allowed access to judges. The awards judging process is also independently audited by Hall Chadwick.

 What do the judges look for? 

The judges will be looking for high-quality submissions that address the selection criteria against the award category in a clear and compelling manner. Please note that the judges will deduct points from submissions with poor grammar and spelling, that are not written in a clear and compelling manner, or that don’t address the criteria. The judges may also deduct points for answers that exceed the word limit. 

 Will the judges or MFAA staff provide feedback on submissions?

No. The judges and MFAA staff will not provide any feedback on submissions due to the large volume of entries. 


4. After the awards judging

 Will the awards process be audited by a third party?

All awards information is audited and verified by the auditor Hall Chadwick.

How will finalists be notified? 

Finalists will receive an email to their nominated email address when finalists are announced in early April 2023. Finalists’ names will also be published on the Excellence Awards website and in MFAA News.

 What do winners and finalists receive? 

Winners receive a certificate, trophy and the right to use an approved MFAA Excellence Award Winners logo in their branding. Finalists receive a certificate and the right to use an approved MFAA Excellence Award Finalist logo in their branding.

 Who will be a finalist at the National Excellence Awards? 

Winners will be announced at their respective state’s MFAA Excellence Awards event. State winners will become the finalists for the National Awards. National award winners will be announced at the National Excellence Awards event. Refer to dates.
