Below are some extra essential points to help you write a submission that stands out from the competition and increases your chances of gaining recognition.
1. Understand the criteria
Before you start writing your submission, it's important to understand the criteria and guidelines provided. Download the entry kit for your chosen award and take the time to thoroughly read the evaluation criteria and questions.
If you have any doubts or questions regarding the criteria, don't hesitate to reach out to us for clarification at awards@mfaa.com.au
2. Tailor your submission to the questions
Tailoring your submission to the specific questions provided is essential. This process involves not only understanding the nuances of each question but also aligning your responses to the expectations of the judges. This ensures that your responses resonate with the judges.
Make your submission engaging and compelling. Tell a story or provide examples that capture the attention of the judges and leave a lasting impression.
3. Write in first person
Writing your submission in the first person is an opportunity to share your genuine thoughts and experiences.
Be authentic in your submission. By telling your story yourself, you create a compelling and engaging story that draws judges into your world and vision. It's not just about presenting facts; it's about revealing the heart and soul behind your achievements.
4. Back your claims with evidence
Whether you're showcasing the impact of your work or the effectiveness of a project, substantiate your statements with data, examples, testimonials or references.
If applicable, use data and metrics to demonstrate the quantifiable impact of your work. Include real-world case studies or examples that illustrate the success or significance of your work.
If you have received endorsements or positive feedback from credible sources, incorporate them into your submission to build credibility.
5. Keep to the word limit
Adhering to the specified word limit ensures that you distill your ideas, prioritise key points and communicate them succinctly. It ensures that every word carries weight and relevance, making your submission more compelling and reader-friendly to the judges.
Exceeding the word limit can be perceived as a lack of consideration for the judges' time and guidelines, potentially undermining the quality of your submission. Keep your narrative clear and concise. Avoid unnecessary jargon or overly complex language that might confuse the reader. Some of our judges may not necessarily be familiar with your area of expertise.
6. Proofread your submission
The final quality check of your submission is to ensure it is free from grammatical errors, typos and inconsistencies. Proofreading not only elevates the professionalism of your submission but also guarantees that your ideas are presented clearly and coherently.
A meticulously proofread submission not only showcases your commitment to excellence but also prevents errors from detracting from your submission, increasing your chances of making a lasting impression on the judges.
By following these essential points, you'll be well on your way to writing an award-winning submission that stands out, captivates judges and increases your chances of achieving the recognition and success you deserve.
